Ray Winstone has claimed that he would not be fazed watching his daughter in a sexy role. Jaime Winstone appeared in violent sex scenes in Donkey Punch, but the actor said that they are no worse than some of the behaviour she's seen him indulge in on screen. "I've not seen Donkey Punch yet but I want to," he told The Sun. "Jaime is trying to keep me away from it, but it comes with the job we're in." "She's 23. She's not a kid anymore. It's (more)

British hardman Ray Winstone has no problem watching his actress daughter Jaime's onscreen love scenes - because he's convinced he has much more offensive roles in his own back catalogue.
The Sexy Beast star has yet to see his daughter's latest movie Donkey Punch - in which she can be seen cavorting naked on screen - but he insists he can't wait to watch it.
And Winstone is certain he won't cringe when he sees Jaime's steamy romp - because he has played his own fair share of despicable characters.
He says, "She's 23. She's not a kid anymore. It's her work and of course I want to take an interest in what she does. My daughter has had to grow up watching me and I've done some right dodgy ones in my time.
"I've been beating up women, doing drugs, having sex and even playing a paedophile."

Here's the UK poster for "Donkey Punch". "Donkey Punch" is the tale of a group of pretty young things whose weekend excursion on a boat goes horribly wrong when the titular sex act is performed with fatal results. As the small slice of society breaks down, no one is sure who can be trusted and who is only out for themselves. Magnolia will have "Donkey Punch" in theaters as part of its Six Shooter Film Series on January 23rd....

Wow, that is just a really bad poster. No offense to Magnolia, but the UK poster for Donkey Punch was a helluva lot more appealing than this one, which Fangoria got their hands on yesterday. Don’t take my word for it, though; click on the teaser image to see the whole thing.

Magnolia will have Donkey Punch in theaters as part of its Six Shooter Film Series on January 23rd; and I guess a poster like this will possibly draw in a more curious crowd but man...

Magnolia Pictures sent along a first look at the U.S. poster for British director Olly Blackburn’s Donkey Punch. The movie begins its limited theatrical release January 23 as part of the company’s 6-Shooter Film Series.
Scripted by Blackburn and David Bloom, Donkey Punch takes place during a yachting trip by a group of hedonistic 20somethings, during which one of the guys performs the titular violent sex act on one of the girls. She winds up dying, setting off conflicts and further violence and death among the group. The cast includes Robert Boulter, Sian Breckin, Tom Burke, Nichola Burley, Julian (CRY_WOLF) Morris, Jay Taylor and Jaime Winstone, with makeup FX by Paul (Doomsday) Hyett; an official website will be open soon here. Look for a feature article on Donkey Punch in Fango #280, on sale in January.

Okay boys and girls ... Hal Haberman and Jeremy Passmore’s film Special is one we’ve shown a lot of love to in these pages over the past couple years and for very good reason: it deserves a lot of love. The quirky indie comedy starring Michael Rapaport as a clinically depressed man convinced that he is developing super powers has been stuck in distribution limbo for a couple years now but thanks to the good folk at Magnet and their Six Shooter Films series you can finally see what we’ve been talking about when it begins its limited theatrical run (also available on VOD) today. And to celebrate we’ve got a little something to give away to you lot: an original Special one sheet signed by Haberman, Passmore and Rapaport!
Want it? Simple enough all you have to do is answering this question: Though Rapaport dominantly plays

Magnolia Pictures gave Fango the word that it will make Jennifer Lynch’s Surveillance (pictured) available for theatrical viewing June 26. Exact cities and venues for the limited release, under the Magnet Releasing banner, have yet to be determined.
Written and directed by Lynch (daughter of David), Surveillance stars Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond as FBI agents who arrive in a small Midwestern town to interview multiple witnesses to a bloody, horrific roadside crime. As each party offers their version of the events, the horrifying truth about what happened becomes clear to both the agents and the audience. The distributor also let us know that it has flipped the schedule for two of the genre pictures opening as part of its 6-Shooter Film Series; Olly Blackburn’s Donkey Punch now debuts January 23 in New York, with Franck Vestiel’s Eden Log arriving in February. As for the other 6-Shooter genre titles,

Writer/producer Anthony Masi sent over a mess of photos from his new Friday The 13th documentary His Name Was Jason; check out the rest at the bottom of this page. As we told you here, the docu debuts on Anchor Bay DVD February 3, followed by a Starz broadcast premiere on Friday, Feb. 13.
His Name Was Jason features interviews with dozens of actors and filmmakers involved with the Friday saga, from the 1980 original up through next year’s remake. “We’d been trying to sell this project for three years,” Masi tells Fango, “so when the green light finally came, it was a great feeling.” He’s especially pleased with the work of director Daniel Farrands: “Dan was the perfect choice for director. Next to Peter Bracke [author of the book Crystal Lake Memories], he is probably the biggest die-hard Friday The 13th fan I know, and his love for the series shines through in this project.

Beginning October 2, the Sitges Festival Internacional de Catalunya 2008 was a sun-drenched 10-day fiesta teeming with talent and terror. Every major genre movie of current note was on show in the picturesque Spanish resort town’s veteran festival, which surprised organizers Angel Sala and Mike Hostench by equaling last year’s record-breaking figures—especially as this 41st edition took place against the gloomiest of economic backdrops.
But as Sala pointed out in his speech at the closing awards ceremony, people need to escape to fantasy/horror cinema more than ever in such trying times. And Sitges certainly put the credit-crunch blues on hold for anyone attending the numerous gala events. Like the two Surprise Movies: Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea, genius animator Hayao Miyazaki’s delightful reworking of the “Little Mermaid” fairy tale, and Michael Doughtery’s nice and nasty Trick ’R Treat (pictured above). The latter was a

The movie opens in January as part of the company’s Six Shooter Film Series, which also includes Let The Right One In (debuting today in New York and La), Timecrimes (coming in December) and Donkey Punch (February).
Directed by Franck Vestiel from a script he wrote with Pierre Bordage, Eden Log is about a man who awakens in the middle of a subterranean cave system and tries to figure out where he is and how to escape—while being stalked by strange, threatening creatures. Seven gold collar young adults get on a boat off one of the shores of one of Spain’s coastal party towns for British party goers. The alcohol flows and recreational drugs enter the mix. Soon the lustful longings take over, couples break off from the pack and an evening of sexual indulgence commences. Having all judgment and rationale clouded by intoxication one of the young men, Josh, eager to participate and fit in, is egged on by Bluey to inflict the mythical ‘Donkey Punch’ on his consensual sex partner Lisa. Josh breaks her neck, killing her, and the mood, instantly. What happens after that is the quick degrading of social structure as they guys scheme to get themselves out of this horrible predicament.

It's that time of year again - ghouls, goblins, and whatnot. And this weekend marks the 2008 International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival, taking place October 23rd - 26th at the Chandler Cinemas in the Phoenix suburb of Chandler, Arizona.
The festival is probably more international than ever, with three of the highlighted feature films all coming from foreign countries: The opening night gala featuring Donkey Punch, Pakistan's first zombie movie Hell's Ground ( featured here at The Big Picture a couple months ago), and the closing night film, Sukiyaki Western Django.
There are nearly 40 films or showcases total over the three-day festival run (the opening night party is Thursday night, but the programming begins on Friday), and it features everything from low-budget indies to shorts to feature films and classics, and there's something to see no matter when you're on the premises: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the 50th anniversary screening of The Blob,

Four girls, three guys, lots of drugs and a big expensive boat in the Mediterranean Sea. A recipe for holiday disaster? You bet. Perhaps the ultimate warning on unconventional sex-acts, the titular Donkey Punch sets the stage for a battle of the sexes fraught with equal parts sex and violence from both genders. Oliver Blackburn mixes sun drenched cinematography with the dark corners of the human psyche under various forms of strain. This is not the over-the-top torture of Haute Tension or Hostel as the poster, trailer and overall marketing of the film suggest. The film lives by the more selfish pressure of how does each one try to get out of this situation intact and free. Yes there are some bloody moments in the picture, and there is enough sexuality (explicit and implied) to slap an Nc-17 rating on in the United States (and make it unreleasable in Japan

Cinematical has just received this exclusive poster for the film Special, starring Michael Rapaport as a lonely meter maid who has a psychotic reaction to his medication and becomes convinced he's some sort of superhero. Back when Cinematical's Jette Kernion reviewed Special at the Austin Film Festival, she called it "different" and "attention-grabbing" -- adding that "Rapaport is riveting to watch as Les, as he transforms from a mild-mannered, easily duped meter maid to a self-identified superhero determined to help fight crime, and even further to his final state at the movie's climax."
As we told you last week, Special is part of Magnet's Six-Shooter Series, featuring six of the more talked-about genre flicks from the past year or so (Let the Right One In, Timecrimes, Donkey Punch, Eden Log, Big Man Japan) -- all of which are heading our way courtesy of Magnet Releasing.

I haven't even finished all of my Fantastic Fest work yet (expect a semi-large wrap-up real soon), but my inbox has been flooded with new reports from three other genre festivals. And since I love this stuff, I figured I'd throw 'em all into one handy section. Let's begin reverse-chronologically, shall we?
Beginning on October 17 is the small-but-powerful Toronto After Dark festival (October 17 - 24), which aims to fill a post-tiff void while Midnight Madness programmer Colin Geddes and his staff take a well-earned vacation. I shan't be able to attend this fine-looking event, but the final slate just came in -- and I can definitely vouch for titles like the brilliant Let the Right On, the amusingly bizarre South of Heaven, the splatterific Tokyo Gore Police, and the stylishly nasty Donkey Punch. Among those "ooh, I wanna see that" titles we have Kevin Tenney's Brain Dead, the comedy horror Netherbeast Incorporated,
