Shutter (2008) is a remake of a 2004 Thai film of the same name. Shutter (2004) was written by Thai screenwriters Sopon Sukdapisit, Banjong Pisanthanakun, and Parkpoom Wongpoom. Pisanthanakun and Wongpoom also co-directed Shutter (2004). Shutter (2008) was adapted from the original script by screenwriter Luke Dawson.

While no seizures have yet been reported, seizure-prone individuals should be aware that there are instances of flashing lights, maybe 30 seconds apart.

What happened to Megumi?

After she was assaulted, Megumi apparently committed suicide, as evidenced by the bottle of poison near her bedside.

He wasn't trying to electrocute himself. He was trying to get Megumi off of his shoulders. He remembered what the old man said about spirits being light. His logic: Megumi is light/electricity so that is what can kill her.
